What a notary does
A notary deals with formal verification of documents and signatures. Notarial work commonly concerns documents intended for use abroad and requests for certified copies.
The required act depends on the document and the receiving organisation’s instructions. Tell us the destination country, who will receive the document and what they have asked you to obtain.
Before your appointment
- Bring your original identification document, such as your identity card or passport.
- Have the original documents available where certified copies are required.
- Bring the receiving organisation’s instructions and any prescribed wording.
- Check with us before signing a document that needs to be witnessed.
- Tell us about any submission deadline when arranging the appointment.
Book ahead so we can confirm Kevin’s availability, the meeting location and what to bring. A notarial appointment should not be assumed from the office’s opening hours alone.
Documents for use abroad
Ask the receiving organisation to explain its requirements before the visit. Notarisation may be only one part of its process; we cannot promise acceptance by an overseas authority or institution.
Further practical information is available on the firm’s notary public website.
Sending an enquiry does not create a solicitor–client relationship. Do not send confidential documents until we confirm we can act. This page provides general information, not legal advice.
