Family Law

Decisions about a marriage, children and finances often need to be considered together. KCN handles civil non-Muslim family law matters in Malaysia.

Matters we handle

Our family law work includes joint-petition and contested divorce, custody and access, maintenance, separation agreements and adoption. The starting point is understanding your circumstances, the people involved and the decisions you need to make.

You may already have discussed some arrangements with your spouse, or there may be substantial disagreement. Explain what has been agreed, what remains unresolved and whether any proceedings or orders already exist.

Preparing for a first conversation

Make a short chronology of the relationship and the main events relevant to your enquiry. Note the children’s current arrangements, immediate financial concerns and any date by which you have been asked to respond.

Our first divorce consultation checklist helps you organise this information discreetly. You do not need to resolve every question or collect every document before making an initial enquiry.

Agreeing the next step

We first check conflicts and whether we can take on the matter. If we can proceed, we discuss the proposed work, the information required and the basis of engagement.

Tell us how and when it is safe to contact you. Sending an enquiry does not create a solicitor–client relationship. Do not send confidential documents until we confirm we can act.
