Before We Begin

Understand the steps ahead

A first enquiry helps us understand the decision you face and whether we can act. We discuss the work, documents and engagement terms before starting.

Five steps

01

Send a short outline

Give your name, a safe contact method, the parties’ names, a brief description and any deadline. Sending an enquiry does not create a solicitor–client relationship. Do not send confidential documents until we complete a conflict check and confirm we can act.

Read our English privacy notice or notis privasi Bahasa Malaysia before submitting personal data. Newsletter subscription is a separate, optional choice.

02

Check conflicts and scope

We check for conflicts and consider whether we can take on the proposed work. We may need further information before arranging a meeting. Flag urgent dates clearly; an enquiry alone does not make the firm responsible for them.

03

Prepare for a meeting

Once we confirm what is needed, organise relevant documents, a short chronology and your questions. Our freely readable checklists can help. Tell us your preferred language and any access needs so we can confirm arrangements.

04

Discuss scope and fees

We explain the proposed work, who will handle it, the fee basis and relevant expenses. Some matters follow the Solicitors’ Remuneration Order in force; otherwise, a fee is agreed in writing before work starts. Changes to the work may require a revised scope and fee arrangement.

05

Agree the engagement

The engagement letter records the agreed work and terms. Ask about anything unclear before accepting it. Website guides, checklists and newsletters provide general information, not advice on your circumstances.
